Dashed Hopes

We had a family trip planned for New York so the kids could enjoy their summer among family. But for two days Ive been trying to rent a car only to be turned away because my utility bills weren't efficient enough. You see, a few months ago I switched my utilities to pre-paid so I can manage them better instead of having then disconnected every month. It has worked but it also came back to bite me in the ass. Needless to say, I first had to suffer thru watching my wife cry because she misses her brother, sister, and son. Then I had to watch my kids cry their hearts out. I'll try to make the trip again next month but I won't tell them just incase things don't go right again.

Paula Dean

In today's news, Paula Dean was released from her contract because she and her brother constantly used racial slurs and inappropriate language. Here's my problem. Ms. Dean is over 60 years old and was raised during a period in the south where bigotry ran rampant. Of course she said the word nigger before. I'm not saying this excuses her behavior but what do you expect. There's a very ild saying "He without sin shall cast the first stone."

Miscommunication

Earlier I had an inbox convo with a publisher who I am working with regarding my payment. Now there was no reason to question the guy's integrity regarding my money but some words were exchanged that I noticed could have turned the relationship bad in a matter of seconds. I noticed this after he inboxed me again later on apologizing for the way he came off. He didnt want me to think he had an attitude with me. Now I didnt think that but after I reread our convo I could understand how his words could have been taken. So my question is this, have you ever been a victim of a person over analizing what you typed? Maybe the words were in all caps and the person thought you was raising your voice. Or maybe just a poor choice of words had the person thinking you was being a smart ass or something. What say you?

The F word

In recent news, Amanda Bynes became the target of Drag Queen RuPaul for tweetinf to People Magazine "I dare you to follow me you fagots!" Rupaul said Amanda's tweet shows her narrow mindedness and bigotry towards gays (maybe not in those exact words). Here's my problem with the entire situation. In the inner city the word fagot isnt a homophobic slur. It is meant as a diss of sorts, ie. a soft person, a weak person, a punk. Now I can understand how some gay people may get offended by the word but a lot of "urban" celebs have recieved a lot of negative flack over calling some one a fagot, ie. Kobe Bryant and the ref. And I do not think it's fair to them. But I guess the word fagot is quickly replacing the word nigger, my fault, I meant the N word. Smh....people need to stop being overly sensitive because if you're called a fagot then you must be one and I'm not referring to the homophobic slur.

Side Job.

So...in my quest to make money legally just to survive day to day life I was hired to work with a vendor at an antique show. The vendor sold beads and old relics to people who made custom jewelry. The guy was actually nice. My job was to hand all the beads for display. Who would have ever thought one person could have so many beads to sell. This dude had EVERY color and shape you could think of! My back is still killing me from carrying all them bins full of beads. On the bright side, there were also some gun dealers selling real antique weapons. One guy had a .44 widow maker for sale for $800. If I had the money I would have got it.
